Impact Investing is becoming a trillion dollar market and yet there seems to be a significant disagreement about exactly what Impact Investing really is. Like the fable of the five blind men who all described an elephant differently based on what part they were touching, we all tend to describe the part of Impact that we ourselves are touching. That can lead to confusion and disenchantment with this important space.

RVC’s Sixth Annual Impact Investing event digs deep into describing the Impact Investing Landscape and demystifies the differences between concessionary and non-concessionary strategies, between primary and secondary impact, public and private impact investments, Sustainable Development Goals, gender, geography, race, sectors and how we measure impact when there are so many different ideas of what it is.

This event includes a keynote presentation on the Impact Investing Landscape, a panel with experts from different areas of Impact Investing describing their perspectives, and a number of great Impact companies pitching live for venture capital to investors in the audience. The Conference is open to the public and there will be plenty of time for networking to get to know the who’s-who of Impact Investing.

Impact Panel:

Impact Investing as a sector has been booming over the past decade. $35.5B was invested in impact deals during 2017 with this number expected to increase by up to 8% by the end 2018 (according to the Global Impact Investing Network). Our panelists will discuss the different areas of Impact Investing and their perspectives as the industry continues to grow.

  • Katherine Pease, Head of Impact Strategy at Cornerstone Capital Group, Inc.
  • Emily Winslow, Senior Manager of Investment & Impact Opportunities at Social Venture Circle
  • Sue Dorsey, Vice President for Finance and Administration at The Gates Family Foundation

Companies:

  • P4P Energy has developed a revolutionary solar photovoltaic (PV) mounting technology that dramatically reduces the costs of solar energy infrastructure. The unique, patented solution is exceedingly robust, extremely efficient, and exceptionally versatile. • Concert Health provides the remote specialist clinicians (therapists & psychiatrists), know-how, and technology infrastructure to help physician practices deliver high-quality, evidence based behavioral health care and take advantage of Medicare's new Collaborative Care Management (CoCM) benefit, which is increasingly covered by third-party health plans.
  • StormSensor is a 21st century tool for managing urban watersheds. By harnessing the power of cloud technology, StormSensor provides real-time data to those who need a comprehensive understanding of their stormwater and wastewater systems.
